Miramax has announced a licensing pact with UKTV which will make Miramax films available on the British broadcaster’s pay and DTT channels. Futher, the studio has made a handful of new staffing appointments ahead of the Mip-TV market that kicks off in Cannes next week. Former MGM exec Mathilde Rottier has been named VP worldwide television with Stuart Shaw joining from Paramount Home Entertainment as director of international sales and marketing. Also, Astrid De Berardinis and Alexandra Tullberg have been appointed directors of sales. Press releases follow:

LONDON and SANTA MONICA, CA, March 29, 2012 – Global film and television studio Miramax and Britain’s branded multichannel broadcaster UKTV today announced a licensing agreement under which a number of the studio’s hit films will be made available to UKTV subscribers across its basic pay and DTT channels. UKTV in the UK and Ireland is now offering a wide range of Miramax’s award-winning and crowd-pleasing films across its channels. The announcement was made by Miramax’s Danny Goldman, Senior Vice President and Head of Sales, Europe, and Alexandra Finlay, Head of Acquisitions and Co Productions, UKTV.

“UKTV has a proven record of delivering high-quality feature films to its subscribers and we are delighted that the Miramax library, which offers one of the world’s leading collections of high-end feature films, will become part of UKTV’s market-leading mix,” said Goldman. “This is the first major, multi-title linear deal for Miramax in the UK and Ireland, and we are very pleased to continue growing Miramax’s direct relationships in the market.”

Alexandra Finlay from UKTV said, “We’re delighted to have concluded our first deal with Miramax. The Miramax library is renowned for its breadth and quality, and these films will be a fantastic addition to UKTV’s general entertainment offering.”


Santa Monica, CA, March 29, 2012 – Miramax today announced the expansion of its global sales team. Mathilde Rottier has been named as Vice President, Worldwide Television, Stuart Shaw joins as Director, International Sales and Marketing, and Astrid De Berardinis and Alexandra Tullberg have also been appointed as Directors of Sales. All appointments are effective immediately.

“Mathilde has strong experience with a broad range of television partners. She is an excellent ambassador of the Miramax brand and we look forward to her added contributions as she assumes broader responsibilities licensing our content worldwide television outlets. We are also pleased to continue the expansion of our London office with the additions of Alexandra, Astrid and Stuart. They will serve as key sales liaisons with European and Middle Eastern providers as we introduce our lasting and modern films to many territories for the first time.”

Rottier will be based at Miramax’s headquarters in Santa Monica and will cover select territories worldwide and select digital partners as well. Previously, Rottier was Vice President, MGM Worldwide TV Group. She also served as Executive Director at MGM TV Europe in London and Paris. She holds a BA from U.C. Berkeley.

Shaw will be responsible for maximizing and coordinating international sales and marketing activities and will be based at Miramax’s London sales office. Previously, Shaw worked for Paramount Home Entertainment as Commercial Director, APAC, and Commercial Manager, EMEA. He was Senior Product Manager for Universal Pictures and Acting Format Sales Director for BBC Worldwide. Shaw was National Account Manager at Universal Pictures and Assistant Brand Manager for Proctor and Gamble. He holds a Diploma from Middlesex University.

De Berardinis will serve European territories including France, Italy, and Spain and will be based at Miramax’s London sales office. She comes to Miramax from CBS Studios in Rome, where she was Director of Sales. Prior to that, De Berardinis served as Manager, Sales Administration at CBS Studios International after beginning her career with Paramount International Television.

Tullberg will serve European territories including the UK and Nordic region and will be based at Miramax’s London sales office. Prior to joining Miramax, Tullberg served as Regional Sales Manager, Europe for Paramount Pictures in London. Previously, she spent eight years at Fox Kids Europe as Head of Marketing.

At this year’s MIPTV, Miramax will expand its exhibiting space and is located in the Lerins Hall (LR4.22).
