Lights Out star Holt McCallany has joined the cast of CBS’ drama pilot Golden Boy, from Nick Wootton and Greg Berlanti. The project, produced by Warner Bros TV and Berlanti Prods. and directed by Richard Shepard, centers on cop Walter Clark (James) and chronicles his meteoric rise from officer to detective and ultimately police commissioner. McCallany, repped by APA, Mosaic and attorney Rick Genow, will plat Detective Diaco, a homicide detective who fancies himself as a super-connected man about town. McCallany, who received praise for his starring role on the FX boxing drama Lights Out, just finished Warner Bros.’ Gangster Squad opposite Sean Penn and Bullet to the Head opposite Sylvester Stallone.
Damages alum Tate Donovan has been cast in NBC’s drama pilot Notorious, from Universal TV and BermanBraun. Written by Liz Heldens, it is described as an opulent soap in which a female detective returns undercover to the wealthy and troubled Lawson family she grew up in — as the maid’s daughter — to solve the murder of the notorious heiress who was once her closest friend. Gersh-repped Donovan will play Robert Lawson’s (Victor Garber) oldest child, the smart and cold CFO of Lawson Pharmaceuticals. Gersh-repped Donovan just wrapped Ben Affleck’s Argo and before that starred in Good People on Broadway opposite Frances McDormand.
