Emmy-winning director Richard Shepard is set to direct and executive produce the CBS pilot Golden Boy. The drama, written and executive produced by Nicholas Wootton and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, hails from Warner Bros TV and studio-based Berlanti Prods. It is a show about the making of a man — it tracks one cop’s meteoric rise from officer to detective to Police Commissioner. In addition to directing, Shepard will executive produce the pilot. He has been loaned out from CBS TV Studios, where Olé, his production company with Sean and Bryan Furst, is under a deal. Shepard, an Emmy winner for directing the pilot for ABC’s Ugly Betty, most recently directed the pilot for the CW’s Ringer. He also directed the pilots for Criminal Minds and Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior.
Miguel Arteta has come on board to direct and executive produce the CW pilot Carrie Diaries. The Sex And The City prequel based on Candace Bushnell’s book chronicles Carrie Bradshaw’s coming of age in the 1980s, when she asks her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan. Amy Harris wrote the script and is executive producing with Bushnell, Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Len Goldstein. The Good Girl and Chuck & Buck director Arteta most recently directed the feature Ceder Rapids; the Thanksgiving episode of New Girl, which introduced recurring guest star Justin Long; as well as episodes of Enlightened and American Horror Story.
