EXCLUSIVE: Former Heroes star Ali Larter just landed another kick-ass role — the lead in The Asset, Josh Friedman’s spy drama pilot for Fox. The project, from 20th TV, centers on Anna King (Larter), a photojournalist well known for her photographs of “hot spots” around the world, but that is only a cover for her real job for the CIA as a globe-trotting “Human Intel Specialist.” Neil Burger is directing. It has been a great week for the Larter household — her husband, Hayes MacArthur, was cast in the Fox comedy pilot Rebounding yesterday. Both projects are at 20th TV.
Nicky Whelan (Hall Pass) has landed the second female lead in NBC’s multicamera comedy pilot Daddy’s Girls. The project, from writer Dana Klein, 20th Century Fox TV and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, centers on Pen (Christine Woods), a responsible, guarded, brilliant but emotionally challenged Harvard Medical School graduate who just returned from a stint with Doctors Without Borders to discover that her beloved dentist dad, Robert, has become engaged to Pen’s high school classmate Holly (Whelan) – a 29-year-old bubbly blonde who happens to be the “mean girl” in high school. Also cast in the pilot, directed by Pam Fryman, is Cedric Yarbrough as Gabe, Pen’s friend who works as a male nurse at the medical clinic. Whelan, who recurred on Scrubs, just wrapped the feature Flight 7500. She is repped by UTA, Untitled and attorney Dave Feldman.
