From Fox and Warner Bros. TV, the network and studio behind new multicamera comedy I Hate My Teenage Daughter, comes I Hate Your Friends, a new multicamera comedy project targeted for next season. Fox has bought the half-hour script written by Michael Showalter and Christina Lee, which centers on a couple who falls in love, thinking they’ve found “the one” … until they meet each other’s friends. Showalter and Lee are executive producing with Peter Principato and Paul Young.
Showalter, repped by UTA and Principato-Young, is the co-creator/director/star of Comedy Central’s Michael & Michael Have Issues. He met Lee while she was a development executive in Comedy Central’s New York office and one of the executives in charge of Michael & Michael. Showalter’s credits also include Comedy Central’s Stella, MTV’s The State and the features The Baxter and Wet Hot American Summer. Lee has a first-look producing deal with MTV. This is Principato-Young’s second comedy project at Fox. The company also has Ever After Part! by by John Ross Bowie and Kevin Sussman through Sony TV.
