Action director Andrzej Bartkowiak has been tapped to helm Hannibal Production’s Beneath The Deep, an indie action-adventure feature that is set to begin shooting in March in Puerto Rico. Armand Speca wrote the screenplay, which centers on a group of Caribbean tourists who become stranded due to natural forces and face unexpected visitors who view them as intruders, and a battle to survive begins. The budget is $16 million. Bartkowiak, a longtime cinematographer (The Verdict, Thirteen Days, Speed, Terms Of Endearment, Prizzi’s Honor), has directed such films as Romeo Must Die, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, Doom and Exit Wounds. Hannibal CEO Rionda Del Castro is producing Deep with Speca; Patricia Eberle, Douglas W. Miller, Jeff Andrick and Anthony Gudas are executive producing.
