EXCLUSIVE: Phillip Noyce, who directed the pilot for ABC’s upcoming series Revenge, will continue his relationship with the network and ABC Studios through a first-look development/exclusive directing deal. Under the pact, which covers this upcoming pilot season, ABC will have first crack at Noyce’s development, with Noyce set to executive produce any project he brings to the network. Additionally, he has committed to direct a pilot for ABC next season, with projects that he has developed in first position.
Revenge will air Wednesdays 10 PM this fall. Described as a contemporary re-imagening of Alexandre Dumas’ The Count of Monte Cristo from a female perspective, it was written by Mike Kelley and stars Emily VanCamp as Emily Thorn, a mysterious young woman who comes to the Hamptons to exact revenge on the people who destroyed her family. This marks the third consecutive pilot directed by Noyce to go to series following Showtime’s Brotherhood and Fox’s Try Calling. He recently executive produced the FX drama series Lights Out and directed an episode of HBO’s upcoming drama series Luck starring Dustin Hoffman. On the feature side, Noyce, repped by UTA and manager Ross Fineman, most recently directed the Angelina Jolie-starring thriller Salt.
