After 9 seasons, Gordon Ramsey’s first Fox series, Hell’s Kitchen, remains a solid utility player. Last night’s Season 9 premiere of the cooking reality series averaged a 2.5/8 in adults 18-49 from 8-9 PM to rank as the top-rated program of the night among adults 18-49. It was down 14% from the Season 8 debut last September, which was 2 hours. Vs. the 8-9 PM portion of last year’s premiere, Hell’s Kitchen was down a tenth. At 9 PM, Masterchef (2.3/6) was even with last week. Fox (2.4/7, 5.7 million) ) won the night with its highest-rated Monday in more than 3 years.
ABC’s The Bachelorette (2.2/7) took a hit airing against Hell’s Kitchen, down 15% from last week. At 10 PM, Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition (2.0/5) was up 5%. ABC (2.2/6, 7.1 million) was second for the night in 18-49 and first in total viewers. CBS aired all reruns, with Two and a Half Men (1.6/4) once again the top-rated series, while NBC aired a repurposed Law & Order: Criminal Intent (0.8/2) flanked by repeats.
