After a solid start, ABC’s new reality series Secret Millionaire (2.7/8 in 18-49, 11.3 million viewers) was down a steep 21% in its second airing last night. The show was probably impacted by the introduction yesterday of daylight saving time which leads to ratings erosion in the earlier time slots. Indeed, all 8 PM slows last night were down from last week. Fox’s The Simpsons (2.5/8) and Bob’s Burgers (2.0/6) were down 11% and 9%, respectively. CBS’ The Amazing Race (2.6/8) was down 4% and NBC’s America’s Next Great Restaurant (1.4/4) was down 13% from last week’s premiere. ABC won the hour with Secret Millionaire in 18-49 and total viewers.
But at 7 PM, where shows should’ve suffered an ever greater impact from the clock change, the ratings declines were actually on par and even smaller that those at 8 PM. NBC’s Dateline (1.1/4) was down the most, 21%, while CBS’ 60 Minutes (1.7/6) was flat and America’s Funniest Home Videos (1.7/6) was down 6%. (Fox aired comedy repeats in the hour.)
With ABC airing reruns of its Sunday scripted series, CBS posted ratings increases at 9 PM with Undercover Boss (2.9/8, up 7%) and CSI: Miami (2.7/7, up 17%). After falling behind the similarly themed Secret Millionaire last week, Undercover Boss topped the ABC show last night. Both reality series were skewered by Bill Maher on his HBO show on Friday. CBS won the night in 18-49 (2.5/7) and total viewers (10.8 million).
NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice (2.7/7) was down 4% from last week’s premiere but up a tenth from Week 2 a year ago. Following a Family Guy repeat (2.5/7), The Cleveland Show (2.5/8) was surprisingly up 14% from last week when it aired after an original Family Guy.
