It’s probably not a reason to sing Fringe‘s eulogy yet because of a possible impact from NCAA coverage on CBS, but nevertheless the Fox sci-fi drama hitting a series low last night is alarming. Fringe drew a 1.3 rating in 18-49, down two tenths or 13% from last week. To make things worse for the drama, it’s lead-in, Kitchen Nightmares (1.5) did better, down only a tenth despite airing in the 8 PM hour that has seen 8-12% TV usage drop week-to-week because of the introduction of daylight saving time.
On ABC, the series finale of Supernanny (1.0, 4.5 million) was up a tenth from last week, Primetime: What Would You Do? (1.5) was also up a tenth, while 20/20 (1.4) was down 12%. NBC’s recently renewed Who Do You Think You Are? (0.9) was followed by Dateline (1.4), which was down 18%. CBS is on track to win Friday night with NCAA basketball but reliable numbers for its game broadcast won’t be available until Monday.
