From Ray Richmond, who is contributing to Deadline Hollywood’s TCA Coverage:
Lifetime plans to double its on-air drama series output in 2011 from two to four, the network’s new president and GM Nancy Dubuc said this morning during the network’s portion of TCA. That includes the pickup to series of two of the network’s five pilots ordered last year (four of them have already been shot). Lifetime brass will make the decision on which two will go to series by February, the network’s EVP JoAnn Alfano said. The two new series will premiere by fourth quarter 2011, along with the returns of vets Army Wives and Drop Dead Diva. The network also is launching a dozen new unscripted series this year, with the rollout beginning in February, along with 15 original films. “We’re committed to expanding our original programming in a major way,” Alfano said. “This is only the beginning.” Here is a list of Lifetime’s upcoming reality series, Seriously Funny Kids, One Born Every Minute, Quad Squad and Glamour Belles, whose premiere dates were announced today:
The half-hour series Seriously Funny Kids, which follows Klum as she interacts with children and brings out the hilarious and often insightful things they say, will debut on Tuesday, February 1, at 9pm with back-to-back episodes. Lifetime has ordered 20 episodes of the program. Seriously Funny Kids is produced by LMNO Prods.
Following Seriously Funny Kids will be the premiere of the hospital docu-series One Born Every Minute at 10pm on Tuesday, February 1. In eight, hour-long episodes, the series takes an in-depth look at life inside the maternity ward at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Based on the popular U.K. format, One Born Every Minute is produced by Reveille Independent.
The family reality series Quad Squad (wt), following a set of identical quadruplet sisters — one of only 63 identical quads in the world — as they juggle their last year of high school in Minnesota, will premiere Wednesday, February 9, at 9pm. Quad Squad (wt) is produced by Asylum Entertainment.
Lifetime will premiere the workplace docu-series Glamour Belles on Wednesday, February 9, at 10pm. Over the course of six half-hour episodes, Glamour Belles will shine the spotlight on the colorful employees and customers of Joann’s Gowns, a small town, yet nationally renowned, pageant gown shop in Union City, Tennessee. Glamour Belles is produced by Magilla Entertainment.
