Fox TV Studios president Emiliano Calemzuk is leaving the company after 3 years to head Shine Group’s operations in North and South America, including Reveille. He is being named to the newly created position of CEO Shine Group Americas. I hear EVP David Madden, who runs FtvS’s successful cable business and is well liked within News Corp., is in line to succeed him as head of the company. He shepherded the development of such hit FtvS series as USA’s Burn Notice and White CollarDuring Calemzuk’s 3-year stint at FtvS, he introduced the international co-production and direct-to-series model that spawned several series, most recently Persons Unknown on NBC and The Good Guys on Fox. Calemzuk, a 12-year News Corp. veteran, was a rising star at the company and was brought to FtvS after running international Fox channel operations in Latin America and Europe. After existing independently within News Corp. since its launch, FtvS was put under the oversight of 20th Century Fox chairmen Dana Walden and Gary Newman last year as part of the executive realignment following the exit of News Corp. COO Peter Chernin.

August 5 2010 – Los Angeles – Shine Group announced today that Emiliano Calemzuk, currently President of Fox Television Studios (FtvS), will join Shine Group in the newly created position of CEO, Shine Group Americas reporting to Shine Group CEO and Chair Elisabeth Murdoch.

With Shine Group’s global footprint encompassing 25 production companies spanning Europe, Australia and the US, Calemzuk will oversee all domestic operations and drive the company’s expansion throughout the Americas.  He also will directly oversee Shine Group LA-based independent Reveille, renowned for such scripted and non-scripted hit series as The Office, Ugly Betty, The Biggest Loser and most recently MasterChef which just last week recorded the summer’s highest series premiere.

Calemzuk also joins Shine’s Executive Board. He will begin his new Los Angeles-based role in mid-September.

Elisabeth Murdoch said, “Emiliano is a world class creative executive; respected, innovative and entrepreneurial. With his experience and boundless energy, Emiliano is perfectly placed to build on our current successes and indentify new opportunities for the group throughout the Americas. It is a privilege to have him on board.”

Calemzuk said, “It’s been an incredible 12 years at News Corporation, where I have been so fortunate to have been given the opportunity to enjoy a variety of challenging and contrasting roles.  I’m proud to leave FtvS as a profitable and healthy studio with a growing slate of successful and acclaimed programming.  I have loved working with the talented and dedicated FtvS team, and wish the amazing people there the very best in taking it forward. The Shine companies are the finest independent group of their kind and I am thrilled to be joining them at this remarkable point in their journey. They are creative, entrepreneurial and ambitious with incredible potential for growth, and I am genuinely excited about my new challenges at Shine.”

In a career at News Corporation that has spanned 12 years, Calemzuk has held his current position as President of Fox Television Studios since April 2007.  During that time he streamlined and grew the studio into one of the industry’s most successful and prolific producers of cable programming, with such hits as Burn Notice, now syndicated both on cable and broadcast television, and White Collar for USA, and Saving Grace for TNT, as well as network shows including FOX’s The Good Guys which returns to FOX this fall. Calemzuk has also overseen FtvS’ roster of non-scripted programming, which includes the long-running The Girls Next Door, as well as hits Kendra and Holly’s World for E!

Prior to turning to production, Calemzuk successfully established and ran channel operations in both Europe and Latin America. As President of FOX International Channels Europe from 2002 – 2007, he managed the 14-channel, market-leading FOX Italian group and supervised the FOX operation in Spain, France, Germany, Turkey, and Eastern Europe. Before this, he served as Vice President and Deputy Managing Director of FOX Latin American Channels overseeing all operating divisions of FOX across 19 countries.  Calemzuk also held the post of General Manager of Fox Kids Latin America.
