UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – June 21, 2010 – After one of the longest and most successful careers in entertainment marketing, John Miller, Chief Marketing Officer and President of The NBC Agency, will now transition to a new role within NBC Universal. Miller, who will remain the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of NBC Universal Television Group, will be working full-time on the NBCU Comcast integration.
Adam Stotsky, who currently serves as President of Marketing, NBC Entertainment, will continue in his role leading the network’s entertainment marketing efforts.
The move was announced today by Jeff Gaspin, Chairman, NBC Universal Television Entertainment to whom Miller and Stotsky will report. “John is an extremely well-respected executive, an invaluable asset to NBC Universal and has been a colleague and friend of mine for 20 years. When he asked to retire, we immediately began thinking of opportunities we could present to keep him on the team,” said Gaspin.
“After 25 years of running marketing for NBC, and with good teams in place at NBC News, Sports and Entertainment, it seemed like a good time to finally hand things off. However, I will not remove the peacock tattoo obtained some time during the ‘Must-See TV’ years,” said Miller.
In addition to his role in the integration process, Miller, who served as CMO for the NBC Universal Television Group since May 2004 and President of The NBC Agency since 1999, will continue his CMO role of chairing the NBC Universal marketing council and overseeing corporate cross-promotion initiatives through the end of 2010.
Miller was the longtime head of advertising and promotion for NBC and co-president of The NBC Agency. In that position, he and his longtime partner and co-president, Vince Manze, oversaw the television industry’s first full-service advertising agency. He previously had served as President, Advertising & Promotion, NBC, since June 1999. Miller joined NBC in August 1982 as VP affiliate promotion services, West Coast.
