Two bubble series needed a ratings bounce. One got it, one didn’t. CBS’ comedy Rules of Engagement (3.2 rating/9 share among adults 18-49) at 8:30 PM was the second biggest gainer of the night, 14% week-to-week. Its lead-in, How I Met Your Mother (3.3/10) was up 6%. Meanwhile, NBC’s Chuck (1.9/5) was flat from last week, tying its lowest 18-49 result. Still, the spy dramedy was again the network’s top-rated series on the night in the 18-49 demo.

After hitting a season low last week, CBS’ CSI: Miami (3.3/9) bounced back big, 22%. The gain didn’t affect 10 PM rival Castle (2.6/7) as the ABC drama was also up, 4% from last week. An unusual (and a little boring) episode of House (3.6/10) centered on the cranky doctor’s therapy sessions, was down 8% from last week. The rest of the Monday lineup was largely status quo, with The Big Bang Theory (5.2/13) returning to the high mark of its last airing behind Two And a Half after subbing for the Charlie Sheen starrer at 9 PM last week, ranking as the night’s top program in adults 18-49. At the CW, veteran One Tree Hill made a solid case for renewal, outrating the network’s flagship drama Gossip Girl.  CBS won the night in 18-49, ABC was tops in total viewers thanks to Dancing With the Stars.
