(December 8, 2009 – Burbank, CA) – Veteran music executive and producer Paul Broucek has been named President, Music, Warner Bros. Pictures, it was announced today by Jeff Robinov, President, Warner Bros. Pictures Group.
Effective immediately, Broucek will be responsible for the overall creative direction of Warner Bros. Pictures’ music operations and also oversee the department’s administrative, production and day-to-day business functions, reporting directly to Robinov. He’ll further be charged with the strategic development and deployment of music-related initiatives to meet the needs of Warner Bros. Pictures’ producers and directors. In addition, Broucek will have oversight of New Line Records, serving as its President, and reporting to Toby Emmerich, President, New Line Cinema, regarding that business.
Prior to this appointment, Broucek most recently launched Common Market, a music consulting, production and publishing company specializing in productions for film, television, records, online, commercials, games and new media. He also formed a creative partnership with record producer Salaam Remi for a lineup of film projects, including New Line Cinema’s “Sex and the City 2,” and served as executive producer of the Javier Navarrete score for the upcoming martial arts western “The Warrior’s Way.” Common Market will continue its operations; Broucek will step away from the day-to-day operations of that company.
Previously, Broucek headed the creative music team at New Line Cinema for 12 years, having served as President, Music from 2004-2008 when New Line Cinema was folded into Warner Bros. Pictures. During this time, he also served as the Executive Music Producer (along with Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh) for the Academy Award-winning “The Lord of the Rings” film trilogy–”The Fellowship of the Ring,” “The Two Towers” and “The Return of the King.”
