WHAT: The Writers Guild of America West’s Gay & Lesbian Writers Committee presents an OUTFEST special panel event, Words, Pictures, and Music, this Saturday, 7/11, celebrating Hollywood’s beloved movie musicals and spotlighting the writers who help bring them to the screen. If you love movie musicals, don’t miss this tuneful panel discussion about the art of putting words, pictures, and music together on celluloid. What goes into the collaboration between writer, director, choreographer, composer, and lyricist to come up with the script and the movie itself? Get the inside story from the creative artists behind the scenes of these popular films.
WHO: Panelists scheduled to appear include: Randal Kleiser (Grease), Bill Condon (Chicago, Dreamgirls), Peter Barsocchini (High School Musical 1-4), Leslie Dixon (Hairspray), Linda Woolverton (Beauty And The Beast, The Lion King), Allison Burnett (Fame), Winnie Holzman (Wicked), and H.P. Mendoza, whose new musical Fruit Fly screens at Outfest directly following the panel, moderated by ASCAP Director of Musical Theatre Michael A. Kerker.
