Last night’s not-so-peaceful summit between David Letterman and John McCain was seen by 6.5 million viewers, and received a 1.7 rating in the adult demo. That’s the largest audience for the show since December 2005 when Oprah Winfrey appeared. The Late Show topped Leno’s Tonight Show (4.6 million viewers) by 43% even though (or because) Jay had on Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden. Meanwhile, McCain confirmed that Sarah Palin will appear on SNL.
