the-oscars-logo.JPGSATURDAY PM UPDATE: More Last-Minute Oscar Viewing PartiesBarry Diller and Diane Von Furstenberg, Bob Shaye, Colin Callender, Arnold Kopelson…

TUESDAY PM UPDATE: Some intriguing last-minute Oscar parties are in the works since so many have been cancelled (Vanity Fair‘s, Barry Diller’s, Dani Janssen’s, Ed Limato’s). I’m told Guy Oseary and Madonna and — no, I’m not kidding — Demi Moore are trying to collaborate on a private after-Oscars party to take the place of Endeavor agent Patrick Whitesell’s 2 AM annual bash which isn’t being held this year contrary to what you might have read elsewhere. And George Clooney is trying to put together another Dan Tana’s after-party like the last-minute one he threw last year.

TUESDAY: Barely anyone is celebrating this year. Blame it on writers strike fatigue. But still the world media have descended on Los Angeles to experience our quaint Academy Awards ritual no matter if everyone parties hardly. (Ugh, I’m fielding one moronic question after the next about Hollywood’s mood post-strike and pre-Oscars.) So here’s the invitation-only sked, which excludes those more democratic events like Sunday’s very worthwhile Oscars viewing party to benefit Aids Project Los Angeles:

— W magazine at the Sunset Tower Hotel
— 5th Annual Global Green Pre-Oscar Party at the Avalon.
— Los Angeles Press Club champagne reception announcing winners of the first national contest for entertainment journalists. At the LA Press Club.
— Indie Spirit Awards nominee cocktail reception at the Casa Del Mar Hotel
— Paramount Vantage dinner at STK restaurant
Ebony Pre-Oscar celebration at Boulevard 3
— Larry Gagosian’s party for Julian Schnabel at Mr. Chows
