What a big relief to see that Lionsgate, known for unleashing torture porn and gory horror films one after the other, has done deals for two more feature films with Tyler Perry. (OK, the studio’s Crash did win the Best Picture Oscar.) Lionsgate announced today it’s “growing its family business” by having him write, direct and star in the 6th and 7th films of the Tyler Perry franchise, The Family That Preys Together and Madea Goes To Jail. They begin production in Spring 2008. Perry’s next film, Meet The Browns, opens nationally on March 21 and his just released Why Did I Get Married? was a big box office hit.
