So Simon & Schuster’s Atria imprint confirmed today what I reported here yesterday: editor Wendy Walker has bought writer John Connolly’s Pellicano bio book, “The Sin Eater.” Here’s the follow-up story from thebookstandard.com. Connolly told me he wants to publish in early 2007. I still say that doesn’t allow for much more reporting time, given the excruciatingly slow pace that the U.S. Attorney’s Office has been rolling out indictments since Pellicano’s office was raided in 2002. It’s beginning to look like this Pellicano case is never going to end. But can there ever be closure given the vast number of wiretaps, transcripts, etc?
Indeed, Thursday’s New York Times talks about just this kind of complaining among real and imagined defendants and notes that prosecutors have even suggested postponing Pellicano’s own trial date, now set for April 18, to as late as October.
