Created and produced by Dina Chapman and Steve Sessions, the soapy, comedic hourlong series centers on the eclectic and cunning wives and daughters of larger-than-life country music legend (and infamous womanizer) Eddie Ray Banks. After his estranged family is brought together unexpectedly, tempers flare and old rivalries resurface setting the stage for startling secrets to emerge as an unforgettable mystery begins to unfold. Casting is underway now with production slated to begin in the fall.
CMT’s first original scripted series, the Billy Ray Cyrus sitcom Still the King, premiered in June to strong ratings, earning a second-season renewal for 2017 when it will be joined by limited drama series Million Dollar Quartet and the high-profile drama addition Nashville.
In an interview with Deadline in June, CMT’s head of of development Jayson Dinsmore said that his team was considering 8 pilot scripts for two pilot orders. “We hope to add another series into the mix by next summer or next fall and then hopefully continuing to add another scripted series as we build out our entire week of programming each year,” he said.
Chapman and Sessions are repped by Gersh.
