ABC has ordered a 22-episode, full-season third season of family comedy Speechless. The news was confirmed Thursday night on Twitter by series star Minnie Driver.

Speechless comes from 20th Century Fox TV, which ABC parent Disney is trying to acquire as part of a group of key 21st Century Fox assets. 20th TV is co-producing Speechless with ABC Studios. I hear the studio’s comedy Fresh Off the Boat also is expected a renewal. 20th TV’s third half-hour at ABC, Modern Family, already is picked up for next season as part of a two-year renewal. Additionally, the studio’s comedy pilot Single Parents has been a frontrunner for a series pickup.

Speechless has aired 8:30 PM Wednesdays since its fall 2016 launch. The series on March 21 wrapped its sophomore season, which averaged a 1.4 adults 18-49 (Live+7). The comedy stars Driver and John Ross Bowie as the parents of JJ (Micah Fowler), who has cerebral palsy, and his siblings Dylan (Kyla Kennedy) and Ray (Mason Cook).

Creator Scott Silver is executive producer of the show, along with Fresh Off the Boat’s Kasdan and Melvin Mar.
