Universal had the release date of Aug. 16, 2019 staked out for an event film and they’re designating Point Grey’s coming-of-age story Good Boys to that date.

Producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver bring their signature R-rated twist to this classic coming-of-age story staring Room and Wonder actor Jacob Tremblay as the mischievous leader of a group of 12-year-old boys whose day of skipped school will become an all-day odyssey of awesomely bad decisions.

The comedy is written and directed by Lee Eisenberg & Gene Stupnitsky (TV’s The OfficeBad Teacher), who are making their feature-film directorial debut with the comedy.  Good Universe’s Nathan Kahane (JunoBlockers) will executive produce with Josh Fagen and Brady Fujikawa.

On that release date, Good Boys is facing off with Sony’s reboot of horror pic Grudge.
