It looks like the battle for Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie could be a real showdown between two past Emmy winners.

In today’s Deadline TV Talk podcast, we put Newsroom alum Jeff Daniels and Sherlock vet Benedict Cumberbatch in the potential lead spots in the category for their respective stellar performances in Hulu’s The Looming Tower and Showtime’s Patrick Melrose. Of course, Genius’ Antonio Banderas, Unsolved’s Wavyy Jonez and Marcc Rose and Twin Peaks’ Kyle MacLachlan look to be in the race too and could prove real contenders.

For you triviaheads, Daniels won the 2013 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of cable news anchor Will McAvoy in HBO’s The NewsroomDoctor Strange star Cumberbatch was the victor in the Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie slot at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2014 for playing the Great Detective in Sherlock: His Last Vow.
