It’s Emmy season 2018 and that means we’re back with a brand new run of TV Talk. Coming just days after our packed Deadline’s The Contenders Emmy event at the DGA, we’re jumping in right away with a look at the legacy of Atlanta’s Donald Glover and who could be up for a Best Actor in a Comedy Series when the Primetime Emmy nominations are announced July 12.

Will Solo: A Star Wars Story actor Glover take home the Emmy again with Atlanta Robbin’ Season? Could Black-ish’s Anthony Anderson break through after three previous nominations? Maybe Will & Grace’s Eric McCormack win with the NBC revival almost two decades after his last victory? It seems pretty clear that former Transparent star and past winner Jeffrey Tambor won’t be in the running after being bounced from the Amazon series after accusations of sexual harassment, but is there an Emmy wildcard in Roseanne’s John Goodman, The Last O.G.’s Tracy Morgan or Young Sheldon’s Iain Armitage? Take a listen below at what we had to say about all of it.

Also a part of our first TV Talk for Season 2, Pete chats with Maggie Gyllenhaal of HBO’s The Deuce. After that, Dominic talks to The Looming Tower actors Jeff Daniels and Peter Sarsgaard and EP Craig Zisk —  and yes, there is some Donald Trump talk.

Take a listen to today’s podcast, hear when we agree and when we really see things differently and tell us what you think. Is the Best Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy in the bag for Donald Glover or do we have a real race shaping up this year.

Remember, the 7oth Primetime Emmys will be broadcast on NBC on September 17. We’ll be back next week with more TV Talk, see ya then.
