He’s a triple threat – writer, comedian, dancer. At least, that’s what John Mulaney’s promo for his upcoming Saturday Night Live appearance would have you believe.

The hosting gig on April 14 is something of a homecoming for Mulaney, a former SNL writer. He plays that angle up in his promo, telling a bartender, “You might say I can do it all.”

“I’m so excited for Saturday,” he says. “We’re going to have big sketches and musical numbers and special celebrity guests.”  Jack White will at least be on board as the musical guest for the date.

Unfortunately, that enthusiasm is squelched by a staffer who reminds him, “It’s late in the season. Massive budget cuts.”

Mulaney has a quick answer. “Don’t worry. I’ll cover it.” He pulls out a wad of phony money. Called on the obvious, he tells his foil, “Please don’t embarrass me in a restaurant.”

The bit ends with Mulaney showered with confetti by two on-camera staff. Take a look above.
