Michael C Hall, best known for playing the forensic technician/serial killer on Showtime’s Dexter, is running around the British countryside looking for his daughter in the first trailer for Netflix’s forthcoming drama Safe.

The streaming service also announced a May 10 launch date for the crime thriller.

Hall stars alongside Sherlock’s Amanda Abbington in the eight-part drama, which is produced by Red Production Company, the Studiocanal-backed producer behind Happy Valley, for Netflix and France’s Canal+.

Written by by Shameless‘ Danny Brocklehurst, Hall plays Tom, a pediatric surgeon who is raising his two teenage daughters Jenny and Carrie in a picturesque gated community after the death of his wife. Everyone seems to be recovering and thriving, until one evening, Jenny sneaks out to a party. A murder and a disappearance ensue, bringing buried secrets to the surface.

Harlan Coben exec produces alongside Hall, Nicola Shindler, Brocklehurst and Red’s Richard Fee. The series launched May 10.
