EXCLUSIVE: Ray Liotta has been cast in the indie film Cutman for producer-director Michael Mailer (Blind). The script, written by Tiffany Heath (Cut Her Out), follows a retired boxer who is dying of cancer and working also as an enforcer for various low-level mobsters. He is haunted by the death of his “cutman” and just wants to die in peace before he meets a junkie and her daughter as they all search for meaning and revenge.
Cutmen are the guys in the corners during a boxing match who make sure the fighter is taken care of physically.
Liotta has been with Jennifer Lopez in NBC’s cop drama Shades of Blue for the past three seasons. NBC announced only this week that it was ending the show after the next 10 episodes of Season 3. Liotta is an Emmy-award winning actor (ER) who was nominated by his peers at SAG a couple of years ago for his work in Texas Rising. He is repped by UTA and Untitled Entertainment.
