Modern Family executive producer Vali Chandrasekaran has signed a new overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television, the studio behind the Emmy-winning ABC comedy.

In addition to Chandrasekaran’s key role on 20th TV’s flagship live-action comedy series, on which he has been for the past four seasons, starting as a co-executive producer and rising to executive producer, he also has developed new projects for the studio. Chandrasekaran currently has comedy pilot Our Family, executive produced by Lee Daniels, in contention at Fox.

“We love Vali at this company. Aside from being wildly funny, there’s an intelligence and a warmth to his writing that is incredibly special. He’s been a fantastic developer as well as an MVP on the Modern Family staff and we’re grateful he’s chosen this studio as his exclusive home.”

Chandrasekaran, whose series credits include NBC’s 30 Rock and My Name Is Earl and ABC’s Trophy Wife and Mixology, inked his first overall deal with 20th in 2015. He is repped by UTA and Management 360.

Chandrasekaran joins several other key showrunners recently re-upped by 20th TV as the studio is preparing to join the Walt Disney Co. when its proposed acquisition of Fox assets goes through. The list includes Abraham Higginbotham, Sanaa Hamri, Tim Minear, Kurt Sutter, Rich Appel and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel.
