Metro Goldwyn Mayer named Ted Lim senior vice president of strategic planing and development, where he’ll be responsible for overseeing deals, working on growth strategies and identifying new partnerships.

Lim will report to Chris Brearton, MGM’s chief operating officer.

“Ted’s specialized background in strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions and integration makes him an essential addition to our management team as MGM  embarks on an aggressive and innovative growth strategy,” Brearton said in a statement.

Lim most recently served as senior vice president of strategy and business development Participant Media, where he led strategy, mergers and acquisitions for the company. He played a key role in its investment in Amblin Partners and in the acquisition of digital short-form video company SoulPancake. Prior to that, he worked in the Walt Disney Co.’s corporate strategy and business development team, where he helped manage the company’s investment in Hulu.
