EXCLUSIVE: Will Forte and Claudia O’Doherty have joined the cast of Extra Ordinary, a supernatural comedy starring Maeve Higgins and Barry Ward that is beginning shooting now in Ireland. It marks the debut feature of writer-directors Mike Ahern and Enda Loughman.

The pic centers on a driving instructor who must use her otherwordly gifts to save a lonely man’s daughter from a rock star looking to use her for Satanic purposes. Epic Pictures is repping worldwide sales outside Ireland and will introduce footage to buyers next month at Cannes.

“We are delighted we have somehow convinced an incredible group of actors and funny people we really admire, along with an amazing crew and some random folk that we just wanted to meet, to join our fever dream and make this mysterious romantic oddball ghost story love comedy adventure film,” Ahern and Loughman said. “The timely script obviously hit home as it shines a light on important, serious issues like that of haunted rubbish bins in rural Ireland.”

Katie Holly, Mary McCarthy, Yvonne Donohoe and Ailish Bracken are producers on the movie from Blinder Films in co-production with Umedia. The Irish Film Board financed with UMedia and Inevitable Pictures. Wildcard Distribution is handling distribution in Ireland.

Forte has been twice Emmy-nominated as the lead of Fox’s comedy The Last Man on Earth which is nearing the end of Season 4. His film credits include David Wain’s National Lampoon biopic A Futile and Stupid Gesture and Alexander Payne’s Nebraska. He is repped by UTA and Rise Management.

O’Doherty, who co-starred on Netflix’s just-concluded Love, was nominated for an Emmy as part of the writing team on Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer on which she also acted. Her film credits include Trainwreck and she is repped by UTA and Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment.
