Late night TV dined on President Donald Trump’s response to Kanye West’s week of Twitter love, which reached a fevered pitch Wednesday when West showed off his signed MAGA hat with 30 fire emojis.

“I think Kanye is lobbying for a job as Trump’s new communications director,” Stephen Colbert speculated on Late Show.

At the height of the fever, West tweeted: “You don’t have to agree with Trump but the mob can’t make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don’t agree with everything anyone does. That’s what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.”

Responded Colbert, “And I independently think that Kanye has lost his mind,” telling West he should have put his phone down after an earlier tweet in which he had revealed “I’m nice at ping pong.”

Things took a “stupider” turn, Colbert said, when “Trump actually responded to Kanye – I assume because an alarm went off in the White House that someone on Twitter was being even crazier than him.”

Actually it’s more likely because White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders got asked about West’s tweets at the White House press briefing, which Trump watches.

Anyway, Trump tweeted, “Thank you Kanye. Very cool.”

Colbert imagined the “total bro-fest” came in advance of their new album, “Yeezy & Sleazy.”

“So congratulations to President Donald Trump on securing the coveted Kanye endorsement. Right now it’ s just you and:

“BILL COSBY INNOCENT!!!!!!!!!!”
