Julianna Margulies’ Alicia Florrick is one of the most iconic female protagonists on television in recent years and now she’s getting a Russian makeover.

The CBS drama is being remade by Sony Pictures-owned producer Lean-M for Russian broadcaster NTV, which has released the first-look at the local adaptation. Alexandra Ursulyak is playing the main character, who must return to her legal career after her husband, an attorney in the Leningrad region, played by Alexander Domogarov, finds himself in the center of a number of notorious scandals.

Shooting for the Russian drama will kick off in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg, filming at the Russian National library, the Plaza business center, the House of the Soviets and the Polytechnic University. The Russian version, Khoroshaya Zhena, is produced by Vladimir Utin, Mikhail Rossolko, Margarita Iskandarova, Daria Kaplya, Vera Paponova, Timur Jafarov, Victoria Mamieva and directed by Stanislav Libin.

The deal is the second international version of the show, which was originally produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Scott Free Productions and King Size Productions. It is distributed globally by CBS Studios International.

The Good Wife is a worldwide famous format, loved by the viewers. I watched the American show and I am a huge fan of the series. The screenplay is amazing. It shows the life with all its ambiguity. It tells us a story of the smart and strong woman, who`s always up to challenge life. I’m happy to be a part of this project. It’s only been a few days since we started shooting, but I have no doubt we’ll make a good team. I would even call it a dream team. Everyone treats their role on the show with so much love, so the result can’t be anything but great,”  said Ursulyak.
