EXCLUSIVE: Facebook Watch’s documentary series I Have A Secret could become a linear program after Elisabeth Murdoch-backed Vertical Networks struck a deal with Electus International. The distributor will be shopping the series for both digital and linear adaptations at next month’s Mip TV in Cannes.

The show, which launched on Facebook in November, documents dramatic revelations made by individuals to a family member or loved one. Whether confessing romantic feelings for a close friend, declaring a sexual preference, or unveiling the truth about past transgressions, those featured initiate a face-to-face conversation with a significant person in their lives to finally share the secret they’ve kept bottled up.

I Have A Secret has had 15.6M views since its launch with an average of 3.4M views per episode and more than 25,000 shares across the series.

It is the latest deal for a Vertical Networks show after it started shopping Ghost Hunt, a co-production with Avalon, to linear broadcasters. The digital firm recently received a second season for its Snapchat series Phone Swap.

The deal was struck between Electus President of Worldwide Television and International, John Pollak (left), and Vertical Networks CEO Tom Wright. Pollak said, “Piercing honesty and unique perspectives always break-through in the marketplace, and what Tom and his team have created is a compelling format that will resonate with viewers in any language or culture. We’re excited to partner with Vertical Networks to take I Have a Secret out to global buyers who continue to seek bold and authentic content.”

Wright added, “The success of I Have A Secret on Facebook Watch is validation of our model – building formats that launch digitally and then travel to other platforms. There has already been a lot of interest from global broadcasters, and we’re confident that we can successfully extend the hit docu-series to new audiences and formats.”
