Maverick TV USA has a new boss. Veteran producer John Hesling has been named president of the unit, tasked with developing and launching new programs for American audiences as well as driving value from formats created by Maverick TV’s UK office.

Based in Los Angeles, he will report to Maverick CEO Simon Knight and All3Media America CEO Greg Lipstone.

Hesling most recently was SVP Programming at Shed Media/Warner Bros Television, where he had creative oversight of the company’s output. Before that, he spent 14 years at the BBC in London, New York and Los Angeles, where he developed, produced and directed documentaries and factual entertainment formats filmed in a dozen countries, as well as the first two seasons of the BBC2 reality show Dragons’ Den. In the U.S., he has developed and produced shows for ABC, NBC, Lifetime, Oxygen, E!, TLC, History, GSN and others and introduced the Top Gear format to the U.S. market. His credits include executive producing First Dates for NBC, the upcoming Genius Junior for NBC, Long Lost Family for TLC and Criminal Confessions for Oxygen.
