Vanessa Rubio (How to be Single) is set to recur on Cobra Kai, a 10-episode half-hour series set for YouTube Red in 2018. Re-teaming Ralph Macchio and William Zabka in their roles from the feature franchise The Karate Kid, Cobra Kai is set 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament when a down-and-out Johnny Lawrence (Zabka) seeks redemption my reopening the infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo. The move reignites his rivalry with a now successful Daniel LaRusso (Macchio), who has been struggling to maintain balance in his life without the guidance of his mentor Mr. Miyagi. Rubio plays Carmen, Miguel’s (Xolo Maridueña) hard-working mother, who would do anything to protect her son. Determined to raise Miguel to be nothing his father, she’d prefer he avoid contact sports and focus on the debate team. She’s not thrilled to learn Johnny (William Zabka) has been secretly training her son how to fight, but softens once she sees Johnny’s genuine affection for Miguel. She is repped by Buchwald and The M.E.T. Group’s Annette E. Alvarez.

Writer-performer-comedian Moses Storm has booked a recurring role on YouTube and Mark Gordon’s eight-episode half-hour teen dramedy Youth & Consequences, set for a 2018 premiere on YouTube Red. The series centers on powerful teen trendsetter Farrah Cutney (Anna Arkana), who is the queen of Central Rochester High struggling to keep her place in the firmament of power as rivals rise all around her. Storm will play Hook. Storm, who made his late-night debut on Conan in September, was a finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Other credits include Adam Sandler’s upcoming Netflix film, Who Do You Think Would Win, the 2015 Universal horror film Unfriended and appearances on Comedy Central’s Another Period and MTV’s Acting Out.
