Banijay Group has partnered with Medialaan and Zodiak Belgium to invest in the future of popular long-running soap Familie which airs on VTM. Now in its 28th season, Familie continues to go from strength to strength, with its latest season achieving the highest viewing figures of the last 10 years. The first stage in this new collaboration will be a significant upgrade in Familie’s studio facilities as the production moves to Zodiak Belgium’s independent production house AED Studios. The cast and crew of Familie, which totals around 90 people, will move from the current studio in Boortmeerbeek in summer of 2018.

The 21st edition of European Film Promotion’s European Shooting Stars has set its 10 up-and-coming actors to be presented to the industry, public and international press during the Berlin Film Festival in February. The group will take part in a dedicated workshop program and be honored at an awards ceremony on February 19. The selection includes 23-year-old Eili Harboe (Joachim Trier’s Thelma); Alba August (Becoming Astrid); Matilda De Angelis (Italian Race); Jonas Smulders (Brothers); Irakli Kvirikadze (Hostages); Luna Wedler (Blue In My Mind); Réka Tenki (On Body And Soul); Franz Rogowski (Happy End, In Den Gangen); Matteo Simoni (Gangsta); and Michaela Coel (Chewing Gum). Former European Shooting Stars have included Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, Alicia Vikander, Matthias Schoenaerts, Carey Mulligan, Cécile de France, Domhnall Gleeson, Daniel Brühl, Pilou Asbæk and Baltasar Kormákur.

STX Entertainment has pacted with dick clark productions and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for the exclusive rights to distribute the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards in China. STX’s STXdigital will also handle the exclusive Chinese rights to the Golden Globes 75th Anniversary Special, and produce local content from the red carpet with Chinese celebrity hosts. The Globes have increased in popularity in China over recent years.
