Jordan Peele’s Get Out was named the year’s Best Picture by the African American Film Critics Association, which gave the thriller a leading four wins overall in voting including directing and screenplay nods for Peele and best actor for Daniel Kaluuya.

The group also voted Frances McDormand as Best Actress for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, while awarding Girls Trip the year’s top comedy, Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit as Best Ensemble, and Crown Heights as best indie, with that film’s star Lakeith Stanfield getting the Breakout award.

The group also unveiled its top 10 films and TV series of 2017; on the small screen, ABC’s Black-ish and OWN’s Queen Sugar won for best comedy and drama series, respectively.

The AAFC, the largest group of professional black film critics, will host the AAFCA Awards on February 7 at the Taglyan Complex in Hollywood. A Special Achievement luncheon is February 3.
