Longtime UTA TV lit agent Joel Begleiter is heading to rival CAA as an agent in its television department, beginning January 1.

Begleiter, a well-liked 18-year UTA veteran, began his career at the agency in the mailroom in 1998. He was promoted to television agent in 2001. At UTA, Begleiter, who was not a partner, worked with such clients as Adam Reed and Matt Thompson (Archer), Paul Zbyszewski (Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Stacy McKee (Grey’s Anatomy), Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer (The Venture Bros.), Justin Roiland (Rick & Morty), Hunter Covington (Alone Together), Dave Willis (Aqua Teen Hunger Force), novelist Ben H. Winters (Underground Airlines), Seth Green and Matt Senreich (Robot Chicken), Joe Gangemi (Red Oaks), Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls), Phillip Iscove (Sleepy Hollow), Jason Jones (The Detour) and Amanda Lasher (Sweet/Viscious). It is unclear which clients will follow him to CAA.

Begleiter was instrumental in packaging such shows as Archer, Red Oaks, The Detour, Rick & Morty, Alone Together, Supermansion and My Brother, My Brother and Me.

CAA and UTA are embroiled in an agent-poaching litigation over the 2015 move of several high-profile CAA comedy agents to UTA.
