Broad Green Pictures said today its sorority comedy Step Sisters will open on March 31. The pic is directed by Drumline‘s Charles Stone III and follows an ambitious college senior struggling to teach a hard-partying rival sorority how to step dance. Step Sisters stars Alessandra Torresani, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Eden Sher, Lyndon Smith, with Matt McGorry and Naturi Naughton and was written by Chuck Hayward.

Broad Green is making a go at releasing more mainstream fare after starting off on a specialty foot. The label recently handled 50% of Miramax’s Bad Santa 2, which logged $17.2M after opening during the Thanksgiving stretch. March 31 is a busy weekend, but Step Sisters is an obvious grab at the young teen crowd. Already opening then is Fox/DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby, Focus Features’ The Zookeeper’s Wife and Paramount’s Ghost in the Shell.
