NBC’s Saturday Night Live has always done well with athletes as hosts. Last night, with wrestler-turned actor/TV host John Cena as emcee, the sketch comedy program reversed the ratings down trend post-election, drawing a 4.8 Live+same day rating in the metered market households and a 2.3 in adults 18-49 in the markets with local people meters.

Those were the best numbers for SNL since the first episode after the Presidential vote, the Nov. 12 show hosted by Dave Chappelle (6.2, 3.9). Last night’s telecast was up from last week’s show hosted by Emma Stone (4.4, 2.1) as well as the corresponding episode last year (3.8, 1.8).
