The WGA East has negotiated a new three-year contract with Lion TV, producer of such reality shows as History Detectives, Dead On Arrival, and Cash Cab. It’s the guild’s second contract with the company, and part of its industry-wide effort to bring nonfiction TV writers and producers under guild contracts.

The deal calls for a 9% increase in the minimum pay for writers effective January 1, 2017; a 12.5% increase in minimums for producers by January 1, 2018, and a new minimum for post producers that’s 32% higher than the old minimum.

The guild is currently trying to get its first-ever contract with Leftfield Entertainment, producer of Pawn Stars, and last week picketed the Sherman Oaks offices of Leftfield’s parent company ITV Studios. The guild also reps reality writer-producers at Original Media, Kirkstall Road Enterprises, Sharp Entertainment, Optomen Prods., and Jane Street Entertainment.
