Weather Channel this afternoon joined the pantheon of TV networks unveiling programming plans for Election Day.

Weather Channel’s plans: No election coverage. Also, no bad weather.

Instead, the network announced a “chill marathon” of clouds, rainbows, something called “autumn splendor,” and

smooth jazz – a sort of Election Day Yule Log.

“American citizens have endured wall-to-wall breathless tension from our colleagues in the news media, and our forecast calls for a 100% chance that will continue through election day,” the network said, as if we needed to be reminded.

The network’s antidote to November 8 stress starts at 3 PM ET and runs for a full nine hours, even without, it seems, any help from puppy and kitten video, which Weather Channel no doubt felt is the Election Day responsibility of Animal Planet. Animal Planet has not yet announced any special Election Day programming plans.
