EXCLUSIVE: Film producers Lauren Avinoam and Jed Mellick have partnered with talent management team Matt Jackson and Molly Shah to launch new production-management banner Moving Pictures Artists.
The company is currently in development on dramatic comedy All These Small Moments, with writer-director Melissa B. Miller, which is being packaged by UTA Independent Film Group. Film is set to start production at the end of the year in New York City. MPA’s production arm has also recently acquired the rights to writer-director Eric Kallevig’s script Illegal, which tells the story of an illegal immigrant in LA who has been trained as an assassin by the Mexican cartel and earns a shot at U.S. citizenship so she can help the NSA take down three terrorists.
On the management side, Jackson was former VP of the theatrical department of Rebel Entertainment Partners as well as an exec at the Disney Channel, where he oversaw the career of many young actors. Shah is a former managing director at Margie Haber Studio and worked in reality production prior to this. The duo’s current client list include Katie Garfield (The Birth of a Nation), Matthew Risch (HBO’s Looking), Lance Bass and Ty Doran.
Producers Avinoam and Mellick recently produced 4th Man Out, which was released theatrically in the U.S. by Gravitas Ventures and digitally via Netflix. Avinoam’s additional credits include Ask Me Anything and doc From Fat To Finish Line.
“We are all excited to be involved in this new partnership as we collectively work towards a singular goal of producing inspiring content, while fostering the careers of emerging and established artists,” said Avinoam.
