We’re still a ways off from the 2017 return of Stranger Things on Netflix, but with the second season currently under production in Atlanta the show has tweeted out the first official cast photo. This being Stranger Things, the photo was flipped upside down, a nod to the terrifying alternate universe visited by several characters during the first season and, apparently, where Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown, was either stranded, or hiding out, in the season’s final moments. See the right side up version of the photo above, and the upside down version below.
Though Netflix did confirm to Deadline sister site TV Line that Winona Ryder (Joyce) and David Harbour (Jim) are set to return, they’re not seen in the photo, which showcases the younger cast. Featured in it are newcomers Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery, along with Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, and Noah Schnapp. Alas, sorry fans, no Shannon Purser, as her character, fan-favorite Barb, has all but been confirmed not to return for season 2. (Barb was killed off, but the show’s creators have been coy about the character’s lasting impact.)
Set to debut TBD on Netflix in 2017, Stranger Things Season 2 is set in the fall of 1982, about a year after the events of season 1.
