Former Democratic White House hopeful/Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders stopped by Conan to translate President-elect Donald Trump’s recent tweets:

The tweet in which Trump claimed to have won not only the electoral college count, but also the popular vote  – if you discount the “millions” of illegal votes for Hillary Clinton –  is “sending a signal to Republican leaders: ‘We have got to suppress the vote’,” and make it harder for “poor people, people of color, immigrants” and the elderly to vote, Sanders said.

Trump’s subsequent tweet that people who burn the American flag should perhaps lose their citizenship, or be sentenced to a year in jail, is another signal, Sanders warned. The hidden message: “Be careful if you dissent” because “we are watching you,” Sanders said.
