20th Century Fox has dropped a teaser for War for the Planet of the Apes, the third installment of its rebooted franchise. In it, we see an image of Caesar (Andy Sirkis), leader of the evolved ape tribe — formed from what appears to be snow — warning of the impending battle: “I am sorry, war has begun.”
Directed by Matt Reeves, the film follows the events of 2014’s Dawn of the Planet of yhe Apes, which saw peace between mankind and apekind broken permanently and a final war looming. Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel (Woody Harrelson) that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
The pic will bow in theaters July 14. Sirkis, Reeves and producer Dylan Clark will be at New York Comic-Con today to show off an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the film.
