The WGA West has announced a call for submissions for its 2016-17 TV Writer Access Project. The program is open to guild members who are minorities, women, LGBT, disabled and/or over age 55. The deadline is 6 PM November 16.
Winners will be offered a five-week seminar series with showrunners to prepare for staffing season.
Now in its eighth year, the TV Writer Access Project seeks to assist diverse midlevel television writers, including TV movie writers, in gaining access to employment. Each year, the Diversity Department along with the TV Writer Access Project Advisory Group fine tunes the program to assist the selected honorees in gaining accessibility to showrunners, executives and agents. WGAW says a significant number of writers selected as honorees have been staffed at various levels.
