Ahoy. During New York Comic-Con, Starz today released the official trailer for the fourth and final season of pirate drama Black Sails. The 10-episode finale makes port Sunday, January 29th and judging by the footage, it’s headed to a very bleak place. (Which would of course be in keeping with the ultimate fate of real world pirates during the 1700s, not to mention the detailed backstory of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island, for which the show serves as a prequel). Anarchy and civilization clash as the show’s various stories reach their inevitable, and obviously bloody conclusion. See a glimpse for yourself above.

Set twenty years prior to the events Treasure Island, the show follows fearsome Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) in his earliest days – and with the new season, presumably to his ignoble death. How connected the show’s conclusion will be to the treasure race that bedeviled Jim Hawkins and company in the 1883 novel remains to be seen of course. Created by Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine, the show is executive produced by Steinberg, Levine, Michael Bay, and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, as well as Chris Symes, Brad Caleb Kane, and Dan Shotz. It debuted January 2014.
