CBS has bought Rebel Law, a legal drama project from EastSiders creator Kit Williamson, former Royal Pains showrunner Michael Rauch and Lisa Kudrow & Dan Bucatinsky’s Is Or Isn’t Entertainment (Web Therapy).

Written by Williamson with Rauch supervising, Rebel Law centers on an openly gay attorney who returns home to Mississippi to join his family’s multi-generational law practice where they work through their personal and political differences both inside and outside the courtroom. Rauch, Kudrow and Bucatinsky executive produce, with Williamson co-executive producing for  CBS TV Studios.

Williamson’s Web dark comedy EastSiders, about a gay couple’s relationship, which he created, stars in and executive produces, premiered on YouTube in 2012 and began streaming through Logo TV’s website in 2013. As an actor, Williamson played Ed on AMC’s Mad Men. He is repped by TMT Entertainment, Don Buchwald and Assoc, and Peikoff/Mahan.

This marks Rauch’s third sale at CBS, along with two drama projects that he is writing and executive producing —  Dr. Death, starring and executive produced by Alan Cumming and also exec produced by James Patterson and Alex Kurtzman; and a legal drama about twin brothers who are lawyers, executive produced by Jennifer Lopez. The projects fall under Rauch’s overall deal with CBS TV.

Rauch and Is Or Isn’t are repped by CAA.
